MT. MARKHAM 3, SHERBURNE-EARLVILLE 2

The Mt. Markham Mustangs rallied from a 2-1 deficit Friday night and defeated Sherburne-Earlville’s Marauders in five games.

The Mustangs remain undefeated following the extended 25-23, 13-25, 16-25, 25-11, 25-11 victory at home.

Emily Timian had 15 kills, three blocks, three aces and a dig for Mt. Markham (3-0); Bridget Wilcox had seven kills, a block, an ace and two digs; Brianna Wichowsky had 26 assists, six kills and two digs; Kaleigh Bryce had four aces, four kills and an assist; Samantha Kinne had three kills, an ace and a dig; Courtney Thompson had three kills and a block; Alex Hoover had one kill; Olivia Thompson had two digs; and Taylor Wool had one dig.

Sherburne-Earlville is 1-1.

The Mustangs are home Monday for a match against Cooperstown.

CANASTOTA 3, DOLGEVILLE 0

CANASTOTA, N.Y. —The Canastota Raiders got the best of Dolgeville Friday, sweeping three games from the Blue Devils in an early-season showdown between two of Section III’s perennial powerhouses.

Canastota won by scores of 25-16, 25-19 and 25-12.

Mikey Rubas had five kills, four blocks, an ace and a dig for Dolgeville (2-1); Ashley Mettler had eight assists, five kills, three blocks and an ace; Emily Young had six assists, an ace, two kills and seven digs; Chelsea Bennett had five digs and an ace; Taylor Brandow had two kills, an ace and two digs; Kiersten Manchester had six digs; Courtney Rachon had three digs; and Rachel Randall served one ace.

Maureen Krak had 27 assists, three aces, three kills and four digs for Canastota (2-0); Melissa Krak had 10 kills, three blocks and five digs; and Grace Campbell and Emily Barrett each had seven kills and two digs.

Canastota also swept the junior varsity match, winning 2-0. Courtney Normoyle served two aces with four assists; Cheyanne Sullivan had two kills and two digs; Katie Millard had three kills and a dig; and Camilla Rios had two assists and a kill.

Dolgeville’s next match is Friday at home against Holland Patent.
