HERKIMER/SAUQUOIT VALLEY 66, LITTLE FALLS 12
Herkimer/Sauquoit Valley won every contested match in Wednesday’s 66-12 victory over the Little Falls Mounties.
Herkimer forfeited at two weights an neither team entered a 106-pounder. The other 12 weights produced 10 Herkimer/Sauquoit Valley pins and a pair of decisions.
Dan Appley (182 pounds), Steven Napolitano (220), Cosimo Tangorra (285)Alex Shepardson (145), Andrew Grube (152), Nick Noviasky (160) and Drew Masi (170) all pinned their opponents in the first period with Masi capping the night with the quickest pin at 32 seconds.
Taylor Philpotts, Ryan Zawtocki and Zack Steele added pins at 99, 113 and 132 pounds, respectively, while Collin Treen and Anthony Luppino won decisions at 120 and 138. Treen defeated Clayton Rockwell 3-2 with a takedown with five seconds remaining in the third period. Steele’s pin beat the final buzzer by three seconds with a technical fall already secured.
Both teams head to Whitesboro Saturday for the Center State Conference’s championship tournament.
