Kat Gay tossed a four-hit shutout as Ilion beat Mohawk 4-0 to give Pat Whalen the 300th victory of his long coaching career.
Whalen was able to accomplish the milestone playing on his home field, the David P. Whalen Community Park, named after his brother, who passed away tragically last year. It also snapped a two-game losing streak for the Golden Bombers (3-7, 6-9) after they had given their coach win No. 299 with a 2-1 victory over Herkimer May 5.
Gay was in charge the whole way as she struck out seven and walked just one batter.
Ilion got Gay the only run she needed in the first as Adrianna Carpenter scored on a passed ball after being sacrificed to third by Stephanie Belmont.
The Golden Bombers then added three more runs in the fourth. Emily Woudenburg and Stephanie Lachacz both had hits in that inning and scored on Mohawk errors.
Ilion finished with just four hits against Mohawk starter Emily Woudenburg.
Mohawk dropped to 4-6 in the league and 6-8 overall.

DOLGEVILLE — Dolgeville scored the only run of the game in the fourth inning as it beat the Magicians in a CSC Division I game.
Nicole Johnson singled, stole second, went to third on an overthrow and scored on a wild pitch to give the Blue Devils the game’s only run.
Juleah Vedder made that stand up as she tossed a five-hitter for the Blue Devils (8-2, 8-4).
Jackie Orcutt took the loss for Herkimer (3-6, 8-11) after tossing a four-hitter.

WEST WINFIELD — Megan Zogby had three hits and drove in a pair of runs to lead the Indians to a CSC Division II win over the Mustangs.
Waterville broke open a close game by scoring a pair of runs in both the fourth and fifth innings.
Shannon Kemp allowed five hits to pick up the win.
Two of those hits were home runs by the Mustangs’ Jeana Farruggia and Tracey Lynk.
Katie Urtz had two hits for Mount Markham and Paige Atwell took the loss after allowing seven hits.

OLD FORGE — Erin Batson tossed a four-hitter and struck out 12 as Poland stayed unbeaten in the CSC’s Division IV by beating the Eskimoes.
Poland started strong with a three-run first then finished the same way with three more runs in the seventh.
Mandy Weakley had three hits with a double to lead Poland’s 10-hit attack.
Taylor White took the loss for Old Forge (3-5, 4-8).
