Reco McLaren scored in overtime Sunday to give the Herkimer County Community College Generals a 4-3 win over the County College of Morris and their first victory of the season.

The Generals had been beaten in overtime Saturday by Suffolk County Community College on the first day of the TC3 Northeast Cup.

Brazilian sophomore Gustavo Pereira scored all three goals for third-ranked Herkimer (1-1-0) during regulation play. Ted Cribley assisted on two of the Pereira goals and Mike Roopchandsingh the third.

The teams were tied at 1 at halftime and Pereira put the Generals up 3-1 in the second half.

McLaren’s winner came on a free kick with 1:12 left in overtime play.

Suffolk, ranked ninth to start the season, one spot ahead of Morris, came back from a 2-0 deficit to force overtime Saturday and eventually defeated Herkimer 3-2. Joel Purkiss scored both goals for Herkimer with an assist from Pereira on the first; the second came on a free kick.

Herkimer travels to Troy Tuesday to open Mountain Valley Conference play against Hudson Valley Community College.
