It has been a struggle at times this season, but the Herkimer County Communityu College lacrosse team is back in the Region III Final Four once again.

HCCC earned a trip to the semifinals as it broke the game open with a big second and third quarters to beat Jefferson Community College 19-11 in a quarterfinal game Tuesday night at Wehrum Stadium.
Tied 2-2 after the opening quarter, HCCC (11-4) outscored the Cannoneers 13-3 over the next two quarters to take control of the game.
Freshman A.J. Vittorio led the charge for the Generals as he scored three goals and added three assists. Fellow freshman Andy Jamieson added two goals and three assists and Dan Lawson had three goals an an assist.
J.P. Finn and Jeff Seager each had two goals and two assists and Doug Hoch and David Limbouris added two goals apiece.
HCCC’s faceoff trio of Christian Quinn, Brendan Murphy and Zeppy O’Green played well and goalie Danny Solazzo had a huge night with 29 saves. Bentray Reed relieved Solazzo and made some brilliant saves finishing with nine for the game.
Seeded third, HCCC will play take on Hudson Valley in Saturday’s second semifinal at 4:30. Top-seeded Onondaga, the No. 1 team in the country will play Monroe at 2:15.
