GIRLS' BASKETBALL: Dolgeville avenges loss to New York Mills

DOLGEVILLE 45, NEW YORK MILLS 28

Katelyn Winkler scored 11 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for the Dolgeville Blue Devils and Nichole Bliss added 10 points and 10 rebounds in a 45-28 crossover win over New York Mills Monday.

Dolgeville (8-8) avenged a 31-29 December loss to the Marauders, who are ranked 24th in the state in Class D. The win was the seventh in eight games for Dolgeville which lost seven consecutive games while Bliss and senior classmate Natalie Nagle were sidelined with ankle injuries.

Domenique Talerico led New York Mills (11-4) with 10 points.

Dolgeville led 12-3 after the first quarter and held the Marauders without a field goal. Meghan Keator scored four of New York Mills’ eight points to close the gap in the second quarter but Dolgeville maintained a 12-point lead at halftime.

The Blue Devils wrap up their regular-season schedule this week with two key league games at home. Dolgeville hosts Center State Conference Division II-leading Little Falls on Wednesday and West Canada Valley on Friday. Dolgeville and West Canada Valley are currently tied for second place in the league, half a game behind the Mounties.
