Little Falls gave up just two runs Wednesday and swept its way through the playoffs to win the Mudville 14-and-under championship.

Kelli Shepardson pitched a one-hitter in Little Falls’ 11-1 semifinal win against Mohawk and Amy Hart allowed one unearned run as Little Falls defeated Herkimer 4-1 in the title game.

Herkimer had beaten Frankfort in Wednesday’s other semifinal.

Little Falls fell behind initially against Herkimer. Joy Williams raced home on a wild pitch and got under Hart’s tag to give Herkimer a 1-0 lead. Little Falls came back in its next at-bat, tying the game with an RBI-triple by Gen Schoff then going up 2-1 when Schoff scored on another wild pitch.

Hart shut Herkimer out from there.

Schoff had hit a two-run home run in the win against Mohawk and Sara Reardon had a pair of doubles.

Ilion won Mudville’s 12-and-under crown Saturday.
