With three players scoring in double figures on Friday against Dolgeville, Sarah Edwards, Christina Wright and Marissa Maldonado, the Ilion Golden Bombers won 45-35.

Ilion (12-5), winners of their last five games, went into Dolgeville and had to earn their win with a different philosophy. Letting their two junior guards, Wright and Maldonado, take on the scoring burden which is usually done by Edwards and Sarah Alexander.

Together, Wright and Maldonado combined for 23 points (Wright scoring 12 and Maldonado scoring 11), and showed the Blue Devils how deep they were as a team.

Besides Wright and Maldonado, Edwards did score in double figures, obtaining 11 points, but after that, the Bombers had three other players score. Amanda Alexander had eight points, Sarah Alexander had three points and Abby Coffin had four points.

For the Blue Devils (9-8), who was up by two points after the first quarter, had one player in double figures, Kassie Gonyea. Gonyea finished with 12 points.

After Gonyea, Sarah Reardon had two points, Corrinne Alling had nine points, Katelyn Winkler had four points, Nichole Bliss had six points and Mary Deveny had two points.

Ilion’s next game is against Little Falls on Tuesday. The last time these two teams played, Little Falls won. This time around, the Bombers could be considered the favorite with Little Falls losing to Dolgeville last week for their first loss of the season. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in the Little Falls varsity gym.

Dolgeville’s next game is against Mohawk on Tuesday. The Blue Devils will travel to Mohawk with the game scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
