Dolgeville’s Vedder named league MVP

League champion Adirondack had four players named and runner-up Dolgeville three as the Center State Conference’s Division I named its girls softball all-stars for this past season.
Adirondack (11-1) was led by a pair of seniors in pitcher Ashley Zeigler and second baseman Misty Mathis, who helped the Wildcats win their sixth league title in the last seven years.
Dolgeville’s most notable selection was senior pitcher Juleah Vedder, who was named the league’s most valuable player and who helped the Blue Devils finish 10-2, its best league finish in a number of years.
Other selections for Adirondack included junior shortstop Miranda Smith and junior outfielder Elise Wieczerzak.
Senior catcher Natasha Mamrosh and sophomore outfielder Marissa Mowers were the other two selections to the first team for Dolgeville.
Little Falls (8-4), which took third in the final league standings was represented by three girls. That trio included senior catcher Courtney Terzi and junior first baseman Sue Schoff, two of the league’s top power hitters. They were joined by junior outfielder Lizzy Demeree.
Mohawk and Ilion, both 5-7 in the division had two girls each selected to the first team.
The Mohicans were represented by a pair of their younger players in sophomore first baseman Kaylee Luppino and freshman shortstop Christy Traglia.
Ilion also had a pair of underclassmen named in junior pitcher Kat Gay and junior shortstop Emily Woudenburg.
Herkimer (3-9) was respresented by senior shortstop Anna Marosek and Frankfort (0-12) had junior third baseman Katie Maneen named to the first team.
Honorable mention selections included Adirondack’s Jordan Rauscher, Emily Siliman and Rachel Hitt, Dolgeville’s Nicole Johnson, Kat Damon and Kassie Gonyea, Little Falls’ Olivia Tooley, Alaina Demeree and Sara Helmer, Mohawk’s Heather Johnson, Kelly Herlehy and Alex Kryshchuk, Ilion’s Adrianna Carpenter, Steph Lachacz and Marissa Maldonado, Herkimer’s Kayla Krenichyn, Dana Pohlig and Jackie Orcutt and Frankfort-Schuyler’s Gina Marcantonio, Erica DeLuke and Francesca DeLuke.
