Malta led off that inning with a single but was caught stealing. Artie Zhushma then walked and Rick Macri reached on an error before Ryan Sheets was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Alex Maxwell then delivered an RBI single, Mark Mula was hit by a pitch to bring in another run and the final run scored on a fielder’s choice.
Sheets went the first six innings allowing six runs on four hits with six strikeouts to pick up the win. Sean Tripp pitched a hitless seventh inning for the save.
Tripp had a double in the game and Steve Hartmann and Macri each drove in a run.

ILION — Joe Gantz was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh inning as Ilion Post 920 beat Adrean Post of Utica in a non-league game Friday night.
Ilion’s winning rally came after Adrean scored in the bottom of the sixth inning to tie the game.
John LeClair had a one-out bunt single to get Ilion going in the seventh. Andrew Talerico and Dan Giacovelli both walked to load the bases before Adrean reliever Ryan Andrews plunked Gantz.
Ilion’s Cameron DeMayo and Adrean’s Tom Appleton were locked in a pitcher’s duel for most of the game. DeMayo went the first 5 2/3 innings allowing just three hits and all three Adrean runs. Appleton allowed just four hits over the first five innings before being relieved by Andrews.
Dillon Hassett walked the only two batters he faced after relieving DeMayo before LeClair relieved and walked in the tying run. LeClair then got the final out of the sixth and pitched a scoreless seventh for Ilion to pick up the win.
Ilion is back in action Tuesday night when it travels to Little Falls.
