MT. MARKHAM JUNIOR VARSITY TOURNAMENT

A tie-breaker handed the first-place trophy to Whitesboro Saturday at Mt. Markham’s annual junior varsity tournament.

Whitesboro and Mt. Markham both finished with 8-2 records in round robin play at the six-team tournament. Whitesboro took first-place on the strength of its head-to-head scoring against the Mustangs.

Dolgeville was third with a 5-5 mark. Oneida and Living Word Academy of Syracuse were 4-6 while Little Falls finished 1-9.

All-star honors were bestowed upon Mt. Markham’s Claire Ladlee and Sarah Gribanoff, Little Falls’ Sam Dewan, Living Word Academy’s Hannah Ciccione, Oneida’s Sarah Pickard and Whitesboro’s Julia Bora, Kara Karat and Lillian Woods.

COOPERSTOWN TOURNAMENT

COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. — Stockbridge Valley lost only one game in round robin play and won Cooperstown’s five-team tournament.

Cooperstown finished second on its home floor with a 6-2 record. Mohawk was fourth at 2-6.

Most valuable player honors went to Stockbridge Valley’s Meriah Beauvais. Mohawk’s Noel Newkirk was picked for the tournament all-star team with Cooperstown’s Katie Booan, Stockbridge Valley’s Justiss Usborne, Jordan-Elbridge’s Olivia Simmons and Blessed Virgin Mary Academy’s Haily Hoffman.
