Syracuse University’s official Twitter account mistakenly sent a tweet regarding head basketball coach Jim Boeheim.

The tweet in question appeared Wednesday night after the No. 17 Orange beat DePaul on Senior Night: “Did I just watch Jim Boeheim’s last game in the Carrier Dome?” It also contained a link to a blog that said Boeheim had been asked to retire.

Kevin Quinn, the university’s senior vice president for public affairs, said the tweet, which was immediately deleted, was inadvertently and mistakenly sent.

“Nothing contained in the tweet or the blog link is accurate or true,” Quinn wrote in an email. “We apologize for the confusion.”

Boeheim is in his 37th season at his alma mater and his Orange are 23-7 with one game remaining in the regular season.
