A local workers union Wednesday ratified a new five-year agreement with Remington Arms in Ilion that features significant improvements in wages and jurisdiction, according to a news release.
Members of the United Mine Workers of America Local Union 717 were able to develop a new pact to include any plant that Remington builds, since the company is considering building within 100 mile radius of the main plant. In addition a $500 signing bonus was secured, along with a three percent wage increase in the each of the first four years and a 3.5 percent in the final year.
The pact also maintains the current level of medical benefits, improves the language governing overtime and creates a new position — utility specialist — aimed at reducing the reassignment of regular workers.
