It took fire crews hours to put down a blaze in the town of Frankfort Tuesday.
Frankfort Hill firefighters were alerted to the call at around 1:30 a.m.
Herkimer County 911 dispatchers said the fire was extinguished by 6:30 a.m.
The Cedarville, Clayville, Frankfort, Frankfort Center, Sauquoit and Willowvale fire departments responded to the scene. No one was injured, dispatchers said.
Media reports said it appeared the fire was centered in the garage portion of the house and water was tough to come by for firefighters, as there are no hydrants along the stretch of Higby Road. Firefighters had to travel down the hill to gather water, the reports said.
