A village trustee position, originally thought to have been filled during the Tuesday elections, is still vacant, according to the village clerk.
Beverly VanValkenburg was an incumbent trustee, and received the most votes in the election for that position. However, VanValkenburg also garnered the most write-in votes for the vacant mayoral position, and elected to take that position instead, leaving the trustee position empty, said village clerk Darlyne Przelski.
Przelski previously said that Karen Lynch, who received the second-largest number of write-in votes for trustee, would fill the seat, but that is not the case.
Decisions on the vacant trustee seat will be decided at the next village trustee meeting, which will occur at 7 p.m. on April 10 at the American Legion Post 1118 at 529 Main Street.
