Fairy tale reboot Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters easily cruised to the top spot at  the weekend box office, besting other new releases Parker and Movie 43.

The action-adventure film, which stars Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton, took in $19 million, Box Office Mojo reports.

Last weekend's No. 1 film, Mama, dropped one spot this week, coming in second with just under $13 million. Oscar frontrunner Silver Linings Playbook held steady at No. 3 with $10 million, while fellow Best Picture nominee Zero Dark Thirty dropped nearly 40 percent in its third weekend showing nationwide, earning $9.8 million.

Golden Globes 2013: Top Moments

Parker, which stars Jason Statham, had a disappointing fifth-place opening with $7 million. Django Unchained moved up a spot from last weekend, finishing in sixth place with just over $5 million.

Movie 43, the comedy that seems to star everyone in Hollywood, bombed in its debut, coming in at No. 7 with $5 million.

Rounding out the top 10 were Gangster Squad (No. 8, $4.2 million), Broken City (No. 9, $4 million) and Les Miserables (No. 10, $3.9 million).
