    HERKIMER, N.Y. — Herkimer Post 38 added a little polish to the silver lining of its dark season with a second win against Walter Will Post 1058 Wednesday.
    Sean Tripp struck out 11 batters in a 9-2 win at Harmon Field as Herkimer Post (2-11, 2-7 Herkimer County) defeated the West Winfield-based squad for the second time in a week. Walter Will Post scored a run in the top of the first inning — leadoff hitter Rich Lusby singled and circled the bases — but fell behind in the bottom of the inning and managed just two more hits against Tripp.
    Herkimer Post chipped away offensively, scoring in every inning except the fifth. Two runs in the first inning put Herkimer Post in the lead and two more came in the second. Herkimer Post led 7-1 after four innings despite leaving 10 runners on base.
    Walter Will Post pitchers Lusby and reliever Cody Beeching allowed only seven hits but the defense committed six errors behind them.
    Bryan McGuire doubled and scored two runs out of the leadoff spot for Herkimer Post. Six other players had hits , including Tripp and Robert Holt who had doubles.
    Tripp hit one batter and walked none.
    Kris Pontero doubled and scored a run in the sixth inning for Walter Will Post (2-15, 2-6 Herkimer County).
    Both teams have non-league games at home Friday. Herkimer Post takes on Cooperstown Post and Walter Will Post meets Whitestown Post at Mt. Markham High School.

    WEST WINFIELD, N.Y. — Herkimer Post 38 made its first foray into the win column Thursday when it travels to Mt. Markham High School and defeated Walter Will Post 1058 12-7 on the road.
    Herkimer Post scored seven runs in the second inning and led 8-0 at one point. Sean Tripp’s grand slam was the biggest blow of the big inning for the visitors who had los their first 10 games of the serason and their first six within Herkimer County.
    Josh Roorda went 3-for-4 and scored twice for Herkimer Post. Josh Keeler added three hits and scored twice while Peter MacKenzie and Bryan McGuire each had two hits and two runs scored.
    Peter Perry had two singles and a double for Walter Will Post and scored a run.
    Cody Marquissee went six innings on the mound for the win and Roorda pitched the seventh.
