  • The Herkimer County Sheriff's Office Welfare Fraud Unit arrested four people for welfare fraud.
    William K. Lunny, 61, of West Winfield, was charged with third-degree grand larceny and third-degree welfare fraud, both Class D felonies, and first-degree offering a false instrument for filing, a Class E felony.
    Lunny allegedly failed to report income and fraudulently received $5,421 in welfare benefits, deputies said. He was arraigned in Herkimer Village Court and was committed to the Herkimer County jail in lieu of $1,500 cash bail. 
    Sarah A. Rogers, 30, of Little Falls, was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, fourth-degree welfare fraud and first-degree offering a false instrument for filing, all Class E felonies.
    Rogers allegedly failed to report all of her income and fraudulently received day care benefits and Medicaid benefits totaling $1,994.01, deputies said. She was released on an appearance ticket returnable in Herkimer Village Court.
    Cheri L. McCoy, 49, of Frankfort, was charged with fourth-degree welfare fraud and fourth-degree grand larceny, both Class E felonies.
    McCoy allegedly failed to report she was receiving unemployment benefits while collecting welfare benefits and fraudulently received $2,210.30 in benefits, deputies said. She was released on an appearance ticket returnable in Herkimer Village Court.
    Samantha Jo Eissler, 27, of Schuyler, was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny and fourth-degree welfare fraud, both Class E felonies.
    Eissler allegedly failed to report all household income and fraudulently received $1563.74 in welfare benefits, deputies said. She was released on an appearance ticket returnable in Herkimer Village Court.
