  • MORRIS 62, RICHFIELD SPRINGS 50
    Levi Decker and Mike DeLuca combined to score 38 points for Morris Friday as the Mustangs beat the previously undefeated Richfield Springs Indians 62-50.
    The Mustangs (8-1, 6-1 TVL) led by as many as 20 points in the first half and held on as the Indians (8-1, 5-1 TVL) pulled within 10 in the fourth quarter.
    Richfield Springs, ranked ninth in the state in Class D, cut its 20-point deficit to 12 before Cody Myers hit a three-point shot at the buzzer signaling the end of the first half. Myers scored all seven of his points in the second quarter and helped Morris hold a 37-22 lead at the break. Decker, who led the Mustangs with 20 points, sat for most of the second quarter with two fouls.
    Decker scored the first seven Morris points of the second half and the Mustangs led 45-26 in the middle of the third quarter. A 9-1 Richfield Springs run brought the Indians back within 11 at the end of the period and Joe Kelly drove for a basket that made it a 10-point game with 5:15 left to play. Morris called a timeout and Decker hit a three-pointer to start a 7-0 run while the Indians went 3 1/2 minutes without scoring.
    DeLuca had 18 points for the Mustangs who won their third consecutive game.
    Ben Smith led Richfield Springs with 16 points, including 10 in the third quarter. Keegan Wheelock-Tanner added 13 points and Kelly scored 11. The Indians struggled at the foul line, shooting 2-for-12 in the first half and 6-for-17 overall.
    Richfield Springs’ next game is Wednesday at Milford.

    ILION 75, FRANKFORT-SCHUYLER 46
    FRANKFORT, N.Y. — The Ilion Golden Bombers got 28 points from  Herschel Ivey and 24 from Brandon Harrigan in Friday’s 75-46 win against the Frankfort-Schuyler Maroon Knights.
    The Golden Knights (8-3) led by 21 points at halftime on the road. They outscored Frankfort-Schuyler (2-8) 23-8 in the first quarter.
    Mark Spina led the Maroon Knights with 12 points, Richard Morocco had 11 and Mitch Shortt scored 10.
    Ilion plays at home Wednesday against Mohawk while Frankfort-Schuyler travels to Rome Catholic.
