  • Lawrence G. Polisse, 85, passed away on October 12, 2012, at the Presbyterian Nursing Home with his family at his side.

  • Lawrence G. Polisse, 85, passed away on October 12, 2012, at the Presbyterian Nursing Home with his family at his side.
    He was born in Frankfort, NY on January 7, 1927 to the late George and Esther Lee Polisse and was educated in Frankfort Center School and Proctor High School.
    During WWII, Larry served his country with the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater and on June 12, 1948, was united in marriage with Anita Tillson, in Calvary Episcopal Church, in Utica.
    Throughout the years, Larry worked for Firestone, Eggers Caryl and Corrigan and for 20 years prior to his retirement in 1989, co-owned and operated T.P. Brake and Muffler on Oriskany Street West, in Utica.
    He was a charter member of the Frankfort Hill Volunteer Fire Department, having held the office of president during his tenure and also a member of the Faith in Christ Fellowship Church, in Chadwicks.
    Larry is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 64 years, Anita; his daughter, Marjorie Polisse, of Utica; his son, and daughter-in-law, Lawrence C. and Deborah Polisse, of Newport, his brothers and sisters-in-law, Earl and Pat Polisse, and Donald and Sylvia Polisse, all of Hubbardsville; five grandchildren, Lawrence C. Polisse Jr, Amanda Polisse, John Jeffreys, Jody and Tom Scott, and James Jeffreys; two great-grandchildren, Abigail Jeffreys and Avery Scott; son-in-law, Richard Jeffreys;  and several nieces and nephews.
    He was predeceased by his son, Gary; his daughter, Diane Jeffreys; his sisters, Mary Talarico and Betty Maine; and his brothers, George and Ralph Polisse.
    Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 16 at 10:00 at the Smith Funeral Home, 3022 Oneida St., Sauquoit, with Pastor John Kelly officiating. Interment will be in Norwich Corners Ceme-tery.
    Calling hours will be Monday (today) from 5-8 at the funeral home.
