  • Rosemary O'Bryan, 82, of Vero Beach, passed away Saturday, January 19, 2013, at Indian River Medical Center.
    Rosemary was on born January 24, 1931.
    Rosemary worked for the New York Telephone/ Bell Phone Company for 34 years before retiring and moving to Florida. She then assumed responsibility for St. Francis Manor in Vero Beach as the Administrator. After retiring from this position, she served the Manor for over thirty years as an active board member and volunteer.
    Rosemary was an active member of St. Helen's Catholic Church of Vero Beach and served the community through the church in many capacities. She was an active member of the Telephone Pioneers and held the position of Commodore of the Otsego Lake Boating Association; she also donated to various charities.
    In her youth, Rosemary spent summers at Schermerhorn Landing in the Thousand Islands with her family. It was there she found an appreciation for boating. To this end, she spent many years at Otsego Lake in Cooperstown boating and enjoying friends. Rosemary was an avid golfer and involved in many leagues. She had a great love of dogs and spent most of her adult life in the companionship of a Schnauzer.
    Rosemary was the daughter of Peter and Reba Smith of Herkimer, New York; she graduated from Herkimer High School in 1949. Rosemary married her beloved husband, Ray "Bib" O'Bryan, in 1976.
    She is survived by her brother, Elmer Smith, of Herkimer, New York, and his son, David and wife, Carol, and their two daughters, Holly and Erin, of Pittsburgh, PA; her dear cousins, Claude and Rita Orcutt, of Herkimer, NY, and their children, Claudia and Stephen Gloo, Cindy and Richard Rhymestine, Matt Orcutt, and Dan and Mary Sue Orcutt, and cousins, Sis and Joe Polce, and Harold and Helen Mickle; Paul and Kim Lewis and three grandchildren, Bobby Nunn, Kelsey Nunn and Aimee Nunn, all from Florida; along with many beloved friends.
    A memorial service will be held at St Helen's Catholic Church with a reception to follow at St. Frances Manor; a second memorial will be planned in Herkimer, NY, in the spring.
