Throughout her life Sara was employed by a variety of companies, but predominately worked as a hair stylist and a homemaker. For the past several years, Sara enjoyed the company of her good friends at the Valley Health Adult Day Care program and was eager to see them daily.
Sara was a caring, compassionate woman who had a smile that could light up the room. She was a devoted mother, loving grandmother and charitable friend who always put other’s needs before her own. Sara touched the lives of all who knew her with her smile and generosity. She was loved dearly and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her two sons, Donald Ervin of Ilion and Michael Ervin and his companion, Mary Lamondia of Middleville; and two daughters, Melissa Ippolito and son-in-law, John Ippolito of Middleville and Maria Ervin of Newport. Sara is also survived by her three beloved grandchildren, Erik Ervin of Newport and Gabrielle and Hannah Ippolito of Middleville; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, including a special niece, Diane Schuff, whom she was close to. Sara was predeceased by two step-brothers, John and George Casaletta; a son, Joseph Ervin; and her husband Donald Ervin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John’s Church, Newport on Friday at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Quy Vo, Pastor, officiating. Spring interment will take place in the Newport Cemetery.  Calling hours at the Autenrith Funeral Home, 7479 Main Street, Newport are Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials to the Valley Health Adult Day Care Program. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
The family wishes to express a special thanks to the emergency room staff at the Little Falls and the Mary Imogene Bassett Hospitals, particularly the ICU staff for their kindness and support through this difficult time.
