  • It’s party time! Local venues to host New Year’s Eve bashes

  • We may not have a sparkling disco ball suspended over the city or a blow-out special on TV, but that doesn’t mean there should be less of a party.

    “Everyone’s dressed to the nines, everybody’s having cocktails and everyone’s having a really good time,” said Gerald Graham, front desk manager for Hotel Utica, one of the local New Year’s Eve party venues this year.

    “Everyone’s dressed to the nines, everybody’s having cocktails and everyone’s having a really good time,” said Gerald Graham, front desk manager for Hotel Utica, one of the local New Year’s Eve party venues this year.
    Several places in the Mohawk Valley are ushering in 2013 with live bands, food and champagne toasts. Here are some of the local venues hosting some New Year’s Eve shindigs.
    Delta Lake Inn
    What: The inn’s party includes a performance by local band Classified. It will be the last show the band members will play together as the original group. The entrance fee to the party includes a dinner, five hours of an open bar and a champagne toast.
    When: 7 p.m. to 1 a.m.
    Where: 8524 Fish Hatchery Road, Rome.
    How much: $189 per couple.

    Hotel Utica
    What: Its New Years Eve party can be a party in itself or an overnight event with special room rates. Both include open bar, a live DJ performance, dinner service at 9 p.m. and hor d’oeuvres.
    When: 8 p.m. to 1 a.m.
    Where: 102 Lafayette St., Utica.
    How much: Cover charge is $83.69; Special room rates are $265.95, with checkout at noon the next day.

     London Towers Property
    What: The property will host a party open to the public and its residents, complete with a DJ, free New Year’s hats and tiaras, and free hot dogs and cocoa, supported by the London Town Resident Association and Christmas in Ilion.
    What: New Year’s Celebration and Ball Drop.
    When: 9 p.m. to 12:15 a.m.
    Where: Community room of London Towers, 100 Main St., Ilion.
    How much: Free.

     Radisson Hotel – Utica Centre
    What: S-Dot & Critter’s 4 annual New Year’s Eve Party and a special New Year’s Eve menu at the Garden Grille. Open bar from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. 21 and older only.
    When: First seating starts at 5 p.m. and goes through 9 p.m.; party starts at 10 p.m.
    Where: 200 Genesee Street, Utica.
    How much: Cover charge is $50. Special room rates go for $129, which includes check-in at noon on New Year’s Eve, admission to the party, breakfast buffet for the morning after, checkout at 1 p.m.

     Turning Stone Resort Casino
    The resort has a lot up its New Year’s Eve sleeve. There are several locations to bring in the New Year. Free hats and horns will be handed out.

    • Country Dance Party: A Very Country New Year, featuring the Custom Taylor Band, Matt Chase & Thunder Canyon.
    When: 8 p.m.
    Where: The Showroom.

    • Fantazia Cirque Du Rage with DSK CHK.
    When: Doors open at 9 p.m.
    Where: Lava Night Club.
    How much: $65 for women, $75 for men, $100 for VIP (includes VIP entrance, exclusive access to upstairs bar, limited seating, champagne toast at midnight). Tickets available online, but a limited number of tickets will be available at the door. Must be 21 years old or older. Formal dress only.
    • Earth, Wind and Fire concert and After-Show Dance Party (with Broken Nails).
    When: 8 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.
    Where: The Event Center.
    How much: Ticket prices range from $77.50 to $87.50 for the concert.
    • Disco Queen-Letizia and the Z-Band Go Go Dancers.
    When: 10 a.m. to 2 a.m.
    Where: The Leopard Lounge.
    How much: Free.
    • Funk and Horns with Soul Injection
    When: 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.
    Where: Tower Garden.

    Vernon Downs Hotel & Casino
    What: The resort will host a New Year’s Eve party featuring the Fulton Chain Gang, a balloon drop and complimentary champagne toast.
    When: 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.
    Where: Ring Eyed Pete’s Bar, 4229 Stuhlman Road, Vernon.
