  • Anna Castilla, 92, of Frankfort, passed away Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, in Mohawk Valley Health Care, Ilion, following a brief illness.
She was born on Sept. 24, 1920, in Frankfort, the daughter of the late Salvatore and Josephine Pappa Conigliaro, and was educated in Frankfort schools. Anna married Joseph Castilla in Frankfort on Oct. 4, 1941. Mr. and Mrs. Castilla were lifelong residents of Frankfort. Mr. Castilla passed away on July 20, 1997.
For many years, Anna and her mom operated a curtain cleaning and stretching business out of her home. Anna will always be remembered as a hard worker, continuing to mow her lawn, paint her house and shovel her driveway up until the time of her illness. She was a devout Christian and member of the Oak Ridge Methodist Church.
Anna is survived by her brother-in-law, Carl Castilla, and numerous nieces and nephews, and very special friends, Claire and Virgil Verdura, of Frankfort.
In keeping with Anna’s wishes, there was no visitation and her burial was made privately in Oak View Cemetery, Frankfort, where she was laid to rest with her husband and her parents. There will be a memorial service at a later date in the spring.
Those wishing may make contributions to the Rescue Mission, 212 Rutger St., Utica, N.Y. 13501 in her memory.
