  • Elizabeth Ann Gabberty, 73, died April 28, 2013 in Fort Pierce, Fla.
    She was born in Ilion on March 28, 1940, the only daughter of Claude and Elizabeth Baker. Betty died at Lynmoore Assisted Living from complications of dementia. Betty moved to Fort Pierce 1969 with her husband Donald Gabberty who predeceased her.
    She is survived by one of four brothers in Philadelphia, Rob Baker (James Calnan); two nieces in the Boston area, Sally Rodgers and Bonnie Ottaviano; and Aunt Katherine Baker of Herkimer.
    Betty worked at Tree Sweet orange juice company as an accounting clerk. When that company closed she worked for Becker and various other juice manufacturing companies. Betty was a volunteer at the St. Mark’s Thrift Shop for many years. She was also president of the woman’s club, a lector, Eucharistic minister and helped with other chores at St. Mark’s.
    There will be a Catholic Mass held in celebration of her life at St. Mark Catholic Church on Monday, May 6, 2013, at 10 a.m.
