  • Jordan S. Gross, 23, of South Main Street, died unexpectedly on May 5, 2013, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
    Jordan was born on April 7, 1990, in Ilion, a son of James P. Murphy, of Dolgeville, and the late Pamela A. Gross. He graduated from West Canada Valley Central School in 2008 and furthered his education at HCCC. Jordan had worked for Red Lobster and Horan Masonry and was currently employed at PEMS Tool and Machine, Little Falls. He enjoyed snowboarding and playing softball and golf. Jordan participated in an area pool league and was of the Catholic faith.
    Survivors include his brother, Adam Gross, of Middleville; his father, James (Amy) Murphy, of Dolgeville; his maternal grandparents, LeRoy and Ginni Gross, of Middleville; paternal grandmother, Helen Murphy, of Fairfield; two aunts, Natalie (Jason) Decker, of Richfield Springs, and Kristine (Michael) James, of Hayes, Va.; one uncle, Jeffrey (Colleen) Gross, of Herkimer; two half brothers, Patrick and Kaden Murphy, of Dolgeville; and several other aunts, uncles, great-aunts, great-uncles and cousins. Jordan was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Robert Murphy, in 1986; his mother, Pamela, in 2005; and a special great-uncle, Warren "Blondie" Gross, in 2008.
    A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John's Church, Newport, on Friday at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, town of Herkimer. Calling hours at the Autenrith Funeral Home, Newport, are Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
    In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials to the Middleville Volunteer Fire Department. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
