The Herkimer County Community College Generals routed Clinton Community College 19-2 and 10-0 Saturday and Brandon Overstreet hustled his way though all nine positions in the second game which, like the first, was shortened to five innings.
Overstreet, who went 3-for-4 with eight runs batted in on the day, shuffled his way around the field, as did many of his Herkimer teammates. He made a stop at each outfield spot during the first inning then manned second base in the second and first base in the third. He split the fourth inning between shortstop and third base and started the fifth wearing his familiar catcher’s gear. With Clinton down to its final out, Overstreet shed his shinguards and chest protector to move to the mound where he ended the game with a strikeout.
Herkimer native Myles Malta started the game behind the plate and finished it at second base, a position he admitted was unfamiliar, for the Generals. Starting shortstop Brent Baker played the final inning at first base.
For good measure, Overstreet even spent the first game as the Generals’ designated hitter. He hits  bases-loaded triple in the first game and went 2-for-2 with a sacrifice fly and five runs batted in in the second.
Ryan Watson’s two-run double broke a 1-1 tie in second inning of the first game and the Generals piled on seven runs in the third and eight in the fourth. Dan Smith, A.J. Fabrizio, Cody Newbigging and Hayden Caffey each drove in two runs and Watson had four runs batted in. Fabrizio scored four runs.
Lonnie Cohen drove in three runs in the second game and Jack Burns scored three. Malta had a hit, a walk and two runs scored. Baker had two hits and scored twice.
Rob Hardy started the second game on the mound and struck out five batters through the first four innings of a combined two-hit shutout.
