  • The Ilion Little Theatre has been hard at work during this week’s dress rehearsals getting ready to present “Dirty Work at the Crossroads” or “Tempted, Tried and True,” by Bill Johnson, on Friday evening.
The gay 90s mellow drama with a heroine, villain and plenty of music tells the story of the lovely Nellie Lovelace who is to be wed to beloved Adam Oakhart, however, villains Munro Murgatroyd and his partner in crime Ida Rhinegold will do anything to stop the holy matrimony.
Other characters include the Widow Lovelace, Rich Mrs. Upson Asterbilt and her daughter Leonie Asterbilt, Handyman Mookie and Sweet Little Nell.
“Dirty Work at the Crossroads” is the first play Steve Quakenbush, of Herkimer, has directed at the Ilion Little Theatre, but it is not his first time working at The Stables.
For several years, Quakenbush has performed at the theater in plays such as “Lie, Cheat and Genuflect,” “The Proposal” and most recently “Harvey.”
“The play makes for a fun evening and audience participation is encouraged with boos for the villain and claps for the hero,” said Quakenbush. “It’s a great show for Mother’s Day so make sure to bring mom.”
Musical entertainment will be provided during intermission.
Show dates are Friday, May 10, Saturday, May 11, Friday, May 17, and Saturday, May 18, at 8 p.m.
A matinee will be presented on Sunday, May 12, at 2 p.m.
Tickets may be purchased at the door and are $12 for adults and $8 for students.
