  • Mr. Adrian Arthur Downs, 67, of Colonial Circle, passed away on Dec. 7, 2012, at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare in New Hartford.

  • Mr. Adrian Arthur Downs, 67, of Colonial Circle, passed away on Dec. 7, 2012, at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare in New Hartford.
    He was born on Nov. 2, 1945, in Herkimer, son of the late John H. and Hazel M. (Bruce) Downs. Adrian was a night auditor at the Radisson Hotel in Utica and also worked at Remington Arms in Ilion.
    He was a good hearted man with many, many friends who loved everybody. He enjoyed working on his computer and playing karaoke. He loved playing his guitar, playing with local bands and even going down to Nashville and playing with country music artists. One of the things he enjoyed most was playing guitar for many local benefits. Adrian also enjoyed watching football and loved the Miami Dolphins.
    Survivors include his sister, Julia Congdon, of Ilion; his brothers, James Downs, of Ilion, and John Downs, Jr., and his wife, Jane, of Virginia; and his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Katherine Quackenbush, Gladys Talcott, Esther Decker and Violet Downs; his brother, Lloyd Downs; and his nephews, John E. Boardman and Clifford D. Boardman, Jr.
    The family will receive relatives and friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, at Applegate–Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd., Ilion (town of Frankfort). A religious service will be held at 7 p.m. at the conclusion of calling hours with Pastor Eugene Kipper officiating. A graveside service will take place at Armory Hill Cemetery at 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 21, 2012. Services and burial will also take place for his nephew, John E. Boardman, who passed away on Oct. 31, 2012. Pastor Kipper will also be officiating both graveside services.
    In lieu of flowers, donations to the family or to the funeral home to help pay for the cost of the funeral would be greatly appreciated by the family. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Donations can also be mailed to Applegate- Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd., Ilion, NY 13357.
