  • The Mount Markham Central School District is asking for community input during two stages of the district’s search for a new superintendent.
The first step is asking residents to complete an online survey to weigh in on the qualifications and experiences they are looking for in a superintendent candidate. The survey can be found at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/MtMarkhamSupSearch and must be completed by Friday, Nov. 30.
A link to the survey also will be available on Mount Markham’s website at www.mmcsd.org.
District residents will also be invited to volunteer to serve on a committee that will help interview the finalists for the position. More information will be available in the coming months.
Current Mount Markham Superintendent Casey Barduhn is leaving the district at the end of the calendar year to take a job as the superintendent of the Westhill Central School District.
The Mount Markham Board of Education is currently reviewing applications for an interim superintendent to step in for Barduhn starting on Jan. 1, 2013, and filling in until a new superintendent is chosen.
During the Mount Markham Board of Education’s meeting on Oct. 30, the board voted to approve Herkimer-Fulton-Hamilton-Otsego BOCES District Superintendent Mark Vivacqua as the search consultant to conduct the superintendent search. It’s anticipated the field of applicants will be trimmed to two or three finalists by sometime in the middle of February 2013.
A new superintendent could be in place as early as May 1, 2013, and no later than July 1, 2013.
