    The Poland Tornadoes are champions of their own annual Columbus Day Tournament after beating Holland Patent 2-1 in the title match Sunday afternoon.

    The Poland Tornadoes are champions of their own annual Columbus Day Tournament after beating Holland Patent 2-1 in the title match Sunday afternoon.
    Most valuable player Paige Sullivan and outstanding offensive player Mikayla Blumenstock each scored a goal for the Tornadoes and goalkeeper Courtney Green made four saves.
    Ashley Stanley scored for the Golden Knights with an assist from Courtney Divine. Nikki Lupia-Eannace recorded 11 saves and took home the outstanding goalie award.
    Holland Patent’s Andrea Stowell was honored as the outstanding defender and DeRuyter earned the tournament’s sportsmanship award.
    Poland plays Thursday at Old Forge.

    RUSSIA, N.Y. — Frankfort-Schuyler took third place at the Poland Columbus Day Tournament with a 3-2 win over the DeRuyter Rockets in Sunday’s consolation match.
    Marsala Bono, Alexis Bianchi and Simone Palumbo scored for the Maroon Knights. Biancho and Olivia Tamburro contributed assists and Cassandra Grippe made three saves.
    Krista Lake scored both DeRuyter goals, one assisted by Ciara LaCaairs and the other by Sam Harris. Samantha Gordon had nine saves.
    Frankfort-Schuyler is home Thursday for a match against Dolgeville.
