    Mitch Jones made seven saves for Poland Sunday and the Tornadoes shut Holland Patent out 1-0 in the championship match at the Poland Columbus Day Tournament.

    Mitch Jones made seven saves for Poland Sunday and the Tornadoes shut Holland Patent out 1-0 in the championship match at the Poland Columbus Day Tournament.
    Mark Shelhamer scored the lone goal for undefeated Poland with an assist from Mark Hennings, the tournament’s most valuable player.
    Andy Haier had five saves for Holland Patent.
    Jones was selected as the tournament’s outstanding goalie. Holland Patent’s Colton Paulo and Ryan Ellinger were named the outstanding defender and outstanding offensive player, respectively, while the sportsmanship award went to third-place DeRuyter.
    Poland next plays Friday at Owen D. Young.
    DeRUYTER 2, WEST CANADA VALLEY 1
    RUSSIA, N.Y. — DeRuyter claimed third place at the Poland Columbus Day Tournament Sunday with a 2-1 win over the West Canada Valley Indians.
    Lucas Benjamin made seven saves for the Rockets who got goals from Justin Fish and Zachary Wheeler and assists from Shayne Purcell and Connor Grime.
    Alex Williams scored for West Canada Valley and Mike Sternberg made six saves.
    The Indians take on Herkimer Wednesday at home.
