    Three former Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs had their names called over the weekend during Major League Baseball’s annual entry draft.



    Pitchers Tyler Rogers, Tyler Kane and Joe Michaud were picked over the final two days of the three-day draft.

  • Three former Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs had their names called over the weekend during Major League Baseball’s annual entry draft.
    Pitchers Tyler Rogers, Tyler Kane and Joe Michaud were picked over the final two days of the three-day draft. Austin Peay State University senior Rogers was taken in the 10th round Friday by the San Francisco Giants. The University of Washington’s Kane and Bryant University’s Michaud were picked Saturday, Michaud by the Oakland Athletics in the 33rd round and Kane by the Miami Marlins in the 38th of 40.
    Rogers tied an NCAA Division I record with 23 saves this spring and finished his two years at Austin Peay as the school’s record-holder for saves in a season and a career. He was 7-2 in 2013 with 1.63 ERA.
    Michaud, the first two-year DiamondDawg, Michaud was 6-3 with two saves and a 3.00 ERA for Bryant while fanning 61 batters in 63 innings.
    Kane was 2-2 with five saves and a 4.91 ERA as a junior at Washington and ranks third at the school with 77 career mound appearances. As a sophomore in 2012, he won seven games with a 2.19 ERA.
