  • The Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs have set a date for their fifth annual hot stove dinner and will induct former Little Falls Mets manager Bud Harrelson into the Mohawk Valley Baseball Hall of Fame.
The dinner will take place April 19 at the DeCarlo-Staffo Post in Little Falls. Tickets for the dinner are $35 for adults and $20 for children under 12; tables of eight may be purchased for $250.
Harrelson played 13 of his 15 major league seasons with the New York Mets and was the shortstop on the 1969 World Series championship team and 1973 pennant-winning squad. A Gold Glove-winner in 1971, he began his managerial career in Little Falls in 1984 and guided the Mets to their only New York-Penn League championship. He was a coach on the New York Mets’ 1986 championship team and managed the team in 1990 and 1991. He resides in Hauppauge and is co-owner, senior vice president for baseball operations and first base coach for the Long Island Ducks of the independent Atlantic League.
“We are delighted to induct and honor Bud Harrelson,” DiamondDawgs president and general manager Travis Heiser said. “Bud holds the city of Little Falls very close to his heart as it is the place where he started his coaching career and is honored to return and reminisce about his time here and the Little Falls Mets.”
Additional inductees will be announced at a later date. The DiamondDawgs announced Monday that a special guest, “highly involved with Major League Baseball,” will be in attendance for the dinner and will present the inductees with their hall of fame plaques. The unidentified guest will also be available for a question-and-answer session with fans during the evening.
To purchase tickets, sponsor the dinner or find out more information, contact Heiser at travis@mydiamonddawgs.com or by calling (315) 985-0692.
