  • Catholic Charities of Herkimer County has postponed its second annual Breakfast of Champions.
The breakfast was to have been this Sunday, March 24, at the Knights Inn of Little Falls, but has been rescheduled for Sunday, April 28, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the same location, according to Mary Beth Napolitano, fundraising chairwoman.
She said all admission tickets previously sold will be honored and the raffle will be drawn at the re-scheduled event.
The reason for the change is the agency became aware of a community-wide benefit scheduled for Sunday to support the victims of the recent tragic events in the valley, and did not, in any way want to conflict with or detract from the success of that effort.
“We want to encourage all to attend in support of this event,” said Napolitano of Sunday’s benefit. “We must keep in mind the intent of our fundraising effort, which allocates funds for emergency services. Now more than ever, we must join together, pray together, feel together and rebuild together as one community. Catholic Charities and all we represent are there with open arms helping all peoples lending a hand and lifting a heart in any way we can.”
The community benefit will take place this Sunday, March 24, from noon to 8 p.m. at the Mohawk American Legion. The charity auction has grown so large that it will take place at Francesca’s Banquet Facility in Ilion that same day from noon to 5:30 p.m., with drawings to take place at 6 p.m. More information about the fundraiser is available by contacting Sean at 895-0183.
Participants in the April 28 Breakfast of Champions will include Tom Goldin, Jeffrey Rheinhardt, Janet Strumlock, Harrison Hummel, Assemblyman Marc Butler, Sharon Lanza, Kim Enea, Bart Carrig, Assemblywoman Claudia Tenney, Tim Seymour, Vincent Bono, District Attorney Jeffrey Carpenter, Herkimer County Sheriff Chris Farber, Marty Smith, Dolgeville Mayor Bruce Lyon, Lori Casullo, Bart Tooley, Jean Maneen, Tom Arcuri, Herkimer County Clerk Sylvia Rowan, Little Falls Police Chief Michael Masi and others.
