Since 2007, the Shepherd’s Table has provided hot lunches for up to 30 local citizens who could use a warm homemade meal. Meals served include soup, sandwiches, roast beef, gravy and trimmings and pastas topped off by homemade desserts.
Herkimer County Hunger Coalition Founder Ray Lenarcic said, “We’re happy to have made donations over the years to this most worthwhile program. After all, our initial purpose in 1999 was to ‘serve so none shall go hungry.’ This $500 donation is in keeping with that philosophy. Kudos to the volunteers for their efforts weekly on behalf of their grateful clients.”
On behalf of the Shepard’s Table volunteer Kay Lenarcic said, “The Shepard’s Table gratefully thanks the Hunger Coalition for this donation. It allows us to serve healthy, quality meals that are appreciated by those attending each lunch.”
Shepard’s Table volunteers include Kathie Aney, Jan Waterbury, Kay Lenarcic, Rev. Dr. Tenolian Bell and Janice Lester Bell of the First Baptist Church of Herkimer.
The meals are offered every Tuesday from 11 a.m. to noon and Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and are served in the Herkimer Reformed Church dining hall.
Dinners are also offered every month on the first and third Tuesday at the church on 102 Church St., Herkimer.
Anyone interested in making a donation to the Shepard’s Table may make a check payable to Shepard’s Table, c/o Kay Lenarcic and mail it to the Herkimer County Hunger Coalition, P.O. Box 622, Herkimer, NY 13350.
