    Diver Sylvia Ross had Herkimer County Community College’s top finishes when the men’s and women’s swimming and diving team competed at the 2013 NJCAA Championship meet at Erie Community College in March.

  • Diver Sylvia Ross had Herkimer County Community College’s top finishes when the men’s and women’s swimming and diving team competed at the 2013 NJCAA Championship meet at Erie Community College in March.
    Holland Patent’s Ross finished fifth in both one- and three-meter diving, the highest finishes for Herkimer this year. She set a new school record in the one-meter diving preliminaries with a score of 338.55.
    The women’s team finished in 12th place with Ross leading the way, scoring 230 points, a 19-point improvement from last year.
    The men’s team finished in 15th place with 98 points, a 21-point improvement from the last time the men’s team participated in the national championship meet in 2011. Geoff Fryer of Ravena scored in the men’s 200-meter butterfly, placing in the top 24.
    All eight of the Generals’ relay teams scored points at the meet. In addition to the relays and women’s diving, Kaitlin Winnie of Accord scored in the 50 and 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke; Kristina Reynolds of Sherburne earned points in the 100 and 200 backstroke and 100 butterfly; and Katelyn Egnaczyk of Boonville had a top-24 finish in the 100 freestyle for the women.
