  • Berkshire Bank this week announced it is acquiring 20 bank branches from Bank of America, including several in the Mohawk Valley.
    A statement issued by Berkshire Bank's parent company, Berkshire HIlls Bancorp, said the two banks "will be working closely together to ensure a seamless transition for customer accounts and associates" affected by the switch.
    The company also plans to offer continued employment to branch employees who are on staff when the acquisitions are completed, the news release stated.
    Local Bank of America branches affected by the purchase include:
    Amsterdam - 140 Sanford Farms Plaza
    Glens Falls - 14 La Rose St.
    Ilion - 1 Central Plaza
    Johnstown - 51 W. Main St.
    Little Falls - 1 W. Main St.
    New Hartford - 50 Genesee St.
    Rome - 200 W. Dominick St. and 1714 Black River Blvd.
    Utica - 50 Auert Ave., 911 Cornelia St., 268 Genesee St. and 1100 Mohawk St.
    West Winfield - 381 W. Main St.
    Whitesboro - 34 Oriskany Blvd.
