  • U.S. Rep. Richard Hanna has voted for a bill that would eliminate the furloughs that have affected local civilian employees of the Department of Defense the past few weeks.
Hanna, R-Barneveld, voted in favor of the Department of Defense Appropriations Act for Fiscal yeah 2014, which is the annual funding bill Congress authorizes to support U.S. troops and provide common defense.
The bill was approved Wednesday evening by a vote of 315 – 109.  It now moves to the U.S. Senate for consideration.
If signed into law, it would restore full pay and work weeks for local civilian employees at Defense Finances and Accounting Services, Rome Lab, and the Eastern Air Defense Sector, as well as military technicians.
It would also provide a 1.8 percent pay increase military personnel.
